    Hi I have the problem that the timing of the Nu MC-ICP-MS is randomly off by up to 10 seconds from the Laser log file (Geostar) meaning to adjust all integration intervals manually. Is this a known issue for the Nu instrument? Is there a known solution?

    Hi Marcel,

    Is the mass spec data evenly spaced and the GeoStar log file randomly offset? Or are the spots apparently offset in the mass spec file?

    We haven’t come across this issue yet, but we are not using the newer Nu Plasma software.

    Is an image from one of the runs. I think the timing of the Nu is off. Solution might be that we just make one file/ measurement with the Nu. We will have to try.

    In the meantime we have a solution for the problem. The Problem is the MC-ICP-MS that for unknown reasons sometimes stops acquiring data fo up to 20 seconds and therefore messes up the timing. Our Solution at the moment is to record the data of a sequence in a single file. With that approach the Laser log file fits perfectly to the ICP-MS signal. Cheers, Marcel
